Four eyeglass frames, total value $2,360, were reported stolen Sept. 11 from an Everhard Road optometry store. Police reviewed security video that showed an older man placing the frames in his zip-up vest pocket. An employee said the man came into the store the day before between 1 and 2 p.m. and tried on some frames and then left.

A Harris Avenue Northwest man and his daughter were charged with domestic violence Sept. 11 after police said they assaulted each other during an altercation at the home. Both were arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail. On the same day, an 18-year-old Canton woman was arrested for the same offense after she allegedly struck her father several times and slapped him in the face.

A Massillon woman told police Sept. 11 that when she went to a Woodlawn Avenue residential facility to retrieve some of her property, her roommate’s boyfriend threatened her with a gun. The complaint was referred to the prosecutor’s office for review of possible charges.

Police were told an unidentified woman stole a $219 vacuum cleaner from a Mega Street department store on Sept. 11.

A Canton woman, 53, was arrested for allegedly shoplifting at the Belden Village Mall Sept. 11. Police said she went into a store fitting room and stuffed more than $500 worth of merchandise into a large purse and then left without paying.

A Canton woman, 31, was arrested Sept. 10 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to control and hit/skip. Police said the woman’s car went off the road on Lake O’ Springs Avenue and struck several traffic signs. She was transported to the Stark County Jail and booked. Court records showed she had prior OVI convictions in Canton, Barberton and Massillon.

On Sept. 9, a Lakemoor Circle man told police someone used his personal information to open an online bank account and then transferred $4,800 from his account into the fraudulent account.

An Akron woman, 52, was charged Sept. 9 with obstructing official business. Police said she gave an officer a false name and Social Security number during an investigation for shoplifting at the Belden Village Mall. The woman was found using another person’s identity.

A Belden Village Street business owner gave police the name of a suspect who reportedly stole multiple company checks between February and September, then forged and cashed them for a total of $90,000. The owner declined to pursue charges at this time.

A Canton man, 25, of South Boulevard, was charged Sept. 9 with domestic violence. His girlfriend told police the man pushed her to the ground during an argument outside a carport. The woman had bruising on her left arm and leg.

Police and EMS responded to a call from a Fulton Drive supermarket Sept. 9 about someone overdosing on drugs in the restroom. Paramedics found a man unresponsive in a stall and transported him to a local hospital. Police said the man had overdosed on cold medicine.

A Canton man, 36, was charged with assault Sept. 9 after police said he punched a man in the face during an argument at a Munson Street gentlemen’s club. He was highly intoxicated at the time, police said.

Two Akron women, both aged 19, were charged with theft Sept. 8 after they were accused of stealing more than $500 in clothing from a Strip Avenue Northwest store. Police said one of the women was seen stuffing children’s clothing under her sweatshirt, while the other woman was seen placing items in her purse. They both were issued court summons and released.

An Akron man, 28, was booked into the Stark County Jail Sept. 8 on felony counts of robbery and possession of criminal tools. Police said the man fought with several loss prevention associates outside the Belden Village Mall who were attempting to stop him from fleeing with $3,000 in stolen merchandise. The man was reportedly seen placing Nike and North Face items into foiled lined bags that are typically used, police said, to circumvent store security sensors.

On Sept. 7, several women at a duplex on Lake O’ Springs Avenue complained a neighbor man was peeking into their windows. One of the women had filed a report on the man before. The case was referred to the prosecutor’s office for possible charges.

A supervisor at a Higbee Avenue nursing home reported 30 oxycodone pills were stolen from the facility sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 7.

A Sherlin Avenue woman told police Sept. 7 that someone used her debit card number to make more than $1,000 in purchases at two local businesses.

Someone broke into a Wales Avenue apartment on Sept. 7 and stole a strongbox containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

A Marzilli Street man reported Sept. 7 that someone “keyed” his entire car while it was parked in front of his residence. Damage was estimated at $3,000.

On Sept. 6, a supervisor at a Frank Avenue credit union said a man upset over an issue with his checking account made threats to harm her and to blow up the building. The man had left before police arrived.

An Akron man, 27, was charged Sept. 5 with aggravated possession of drugs, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police were called to a Sunset Strip Avenue motel after employees reported the man failed to awaken after his check-out time. Officers wakened the man and found him lying on top of a bag containing a white crystal substance. He reportedly admitted it was methamphetamine. Multiple needles and other drug paraphernalia used for injections were also found in the room, police said.
