GREEN  The race for the next Ward 3 councilperson has narrowed to two candidates following Tuesday's primary election.

Rocco Yeargin and Susan Ridgeway received the majority of the votes and will advance to the Nov. 7 General Election.

The opening on council comes because of councilman Ken Knodel's decision not to run for another four-year term. Four candidates for the seat emerged as voters chose between Jeananne Chadsey, Rick Miller, Ridgeway and Yeargin.

According to unofficial results from the Summit County Board of Elections, Yeargin received 403 votes, Ridgeway 185, Miller 133 and Chadsey 122. Ward 3 has 4,724 registered voters but only 847 voted in the primary, resulting in a 17.93 percent voter turnout.
