LAKEMORE  Lakemore Council approved an ordinance authorizing the issuance of $54,000 in Ambulance Improvement Bonds during a special meeting.

The purpose of the bonds is to acquire and and install related equipment to the ambulance. The bonds are issued for the purpose of paying part of the cost of the ambulance project, including financing costs.

Fiscal Officer Tracy Fast said that the funding for the ambulance project is partly through a grant and part of it is funded by a loan.

"We have to issue bonds to the USDA to show we will pay it over 10 years," Fast said.

The ambulance has received a new chassis and the box back has been updated with a new logo. Chief Brett Reinbolt said the box part of the ambulance was sandblasted to the bare metal, received a new floor, new LED lights and more. He said by doing so it saved them about $80,000.

With the grant they received from USDA, the whole squad "only cost $54,000," which Reinbolt he said was a huge savings. He said they wanted to keep the box because it is bigger than most.

"It is roomy," he said.

Reinbolt showed council members the updated ambulance, touting the brightness of the lights, its size and the new logo.

The next regular scheduled meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Municipal Building.
