On Aug. 15, deputies responded to a call of a woman attempting to flag down motorists on Raber Road. The woman told the responding officer that two male acquaintances left her stranded. The officer ran a background check on the woman and found she had a felony warrant on file for receiving stolen property. She was arrested and turned over to Stark County sheriff’s deputies.

A pair of Gucci eyeglass frames valued at $300 were reported stolen Aug. 14 from an optometrist’s office on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road.

A 53-year-old Hartville man was arrested at a Landmark Boulevard hotel Aug. 14 on a warrant charging possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Someone used a counterfeit $20 bill to pay for $15 worth of gas at a Corporate Woods Parkway gas station on Aug. 14.

A man and a woman were seen wrestling in the parking lot of a South Main Street business on Aug. 14. They told an officer they were having a disagreement over their romantic relationship. Both declined to press charges against the other and the case was closed.

On Aug. 12, an officer patrolling an area of East Turkeyfoot Lake Road where multiple break-ins have been reported stopped a man in dark clothing for questioning. A computer check revealed the 27-year-old had a warrant from Kent State University for driving under suspension. He was arrested and turned over to university police.

Deputies issued a warrant Aug. 11 for an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road man charging him with domestic violence/menacing. Deputies said the 20-year-old yelled at his grandmother and lunged at her as if he were going to attack her. The woman said she felt threatened by the man.

A South Arlington Road woman, 55, was charged Aug. 9 with domestic violence and endangering children. Deputies said she choked her 10-year-old granddaughter and attempted to pull a necklace off her. She was booked into the Summit County Jail. The child was released to her mother.

Deputies are looking for two men in a white Ford pickup truck who were captured on security video stealing 65 pallets from outside a Pickle Road business on Aug. 9.

A theft warrant was issued Aug. 9 for a 45-year-old Canton woman. Deputies said she was identified leaving an Interstate Parkway home improvement store with two lawn trimmers she did not pay for.

A Fox Ridge Drive man told deputies Aug. 9 that someone entered his car and stole a canister of Trident gum valued at $4.

COVENTRY TOWNSHIP

A 39-year-old Akron man was stopped while walking on Cottage Grove Road Aug. 13 and found with a felony warrant for criminal trespass. He was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail.

During a traffic stop on Baywood Road Aug. 12, deputies arrested a 34-year-old Tallmadge woman for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was issued a court summons and released.

Construction equipment was reported stolen from a work truck on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road between Aug. 6 and 12.

A Walbridge Drive man, 32, was charged with obstruction Aug. 12 after he reportedly refused to tell a deputy where his car was located. The deputy went to the man’s home and issued him a citation for driving under suspension. When he asked the man multiple times where his car was located, the man kept giving him false information, the deputy said. The man was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail.

A Bay Path Drive man told deputies that someone broke into his van Aug. 11 and damaged the steering column and stole more than $1,300 in items.

While investigating a traffic crash on Portage Lakes Drive Aug. 11, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana inside the car. A 20-year-old Don Drive woman reportedly admitted having marijuana and a grinder in the vehicle. She was charged with misdemeanor counts of possession and released with a court summons.

On Aug. 10, an employee at a Manchester Road wireless store told deputies a woman came in and asked to use the restroom. After she came out, she picked up a $500 cell phone and put it in her purse, then left. The incident was captured on surveillance video.

An Iris Avenue man, 46, was arrested at his home Aug. 10 on two felony counts of possession of drugs and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. While investigating drug complaints at the man’s home, deputies said they found two plastic bags containing suspected narcotics near a trash can. The man reportedly admitted the bags contained methamphetamine and fentanyl. A glass meth pipe was found in his back pocket.

A township woman reported $500 was stolen from her purse while she was shopping at a Manchester Road supermarket Aug. 9. The woman had withdrawn the money from a bank inside the store a short time before.

A 12-year-old Akron boy was charged Aug. 8 with criminal mischief after deputies said he threw a rock at the front window of a home on Darnell Drive.

Someone broke into a garage on Saunders Avenue Aug. 8 and stole a pressure washer, air compressor, gas generator, chainsaw and a toolbox with tools. The value of the items was not disclosed.

NEW FRANKLIN

On Aug. 8, a Manchester Road man told police he reported his dirt bike stolen in Youngstown in early July and later found it advertised for sale on Craigslist. He was able to trace the bike’s location to an address in New Franklin. Police went to a home on Kaylin Drive and found a dirt bike matching the description inside the garage. The vehicle’s identification number confirmed it was the same bike reported stolen by the Manchester Road man. A resident at the home told police he acquired the bike from a Youngstown man by trading him his bike. Police returned the bike to the owner and notified authorities in Youngstown of its recovery and a possible suspect.

A home in the 1300 block of West Turkeyfoot Lake Road was broken into Aug. 8. A gold wedding ring, a laptop computer, 20 prescription pills and an IMAC air card were reported taken.

Police responded to a call of a single-vehicle accident on Cleveland-Massillon Road Aug. 8. The driver, a 31-year-old Akron man, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they found a pipe and a small amount of marijuana inside a container near the passenger window.

A Renninger Road man, 44, was charged with domestic violence Aug. 6 after he allegedly broke several items in the home and threatened to kill his wife if she called police. His wife told officers the man had been drinking all night and hadn’t taken his medication.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP

On Aug. 15, a Park Way woman told police she let an Akron man spend the night at her home and the next morning when she woke up, she found the man had left with her car.

Police and fire personnel responded to a report of a car on fire in the 600 block of Neal Road Aug. 15. Police found a gas can and a container of outdoor cleaner next to the vehicle. They determined the vehicle had been covered in gasoline and intentionally set on fire.

On Aug. 11, an Avis Road man told police a man came to his house and paid him $1,300 in $100 bills for a wedding ring set he had advertised for sale online. When he later went to a store to make a purchase, he discovered the bills were counterfeit.

Four male juveniles between the ages of 11 and 16 were charged with theft Aug. 11 after police said they left a South Arlington Road restaurant without paying the $50 bill. They were arrested and taken to the Summit County Detention Center.

A 26-year-old man was arrested Aug. 10 on a warrant for violation of a protection order. Police said he went to a Toepfer Road home where he formerly lived in violation of a court order. He was transported to the Summit County Jail and booked.

A Yamaha four-wheeler valued at $2,500 was reported stolen Aug. 9 from a backyard in the 2500 block of Killian Road.

UNIONTOWN

A four-wheeler valued at $800 was reported stolen Aug. 8 from outside a Lagoon Circle home.

On Aug. 5, a Mogadore Avenue man reported his live-in girlfriend took his car without permission and was driving with a suspended license. Later that evening, he learned his girlfriend was involved in a traffic accident in Springfield Township and was taken to a local hospital.

A $3,000 generator with wheels was reported stolen Aug. 4 from outside a Mogadore Avenue business.

An Edison Street woman, 51, was arrested at her home July 31 on a warrant for failure to appear on an aggravated drug possession charge. She was released to Summit County sheriff’s deputies.

HARTVILLE

A Cornerstone Street man, 28, was arrested at his home Aug. 13 on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Police said the man pulled away and struggled with officers while being handcuffed and had to be taken to the ground. He was charged with resisting arrest and taken to the Stark County Jail to be booked on the warrant.

A Billman Street man, 43, was charged Aug. 12 with domestic violence. He is accused of grabbing his son, 18, by the neck and throwing him to the ground during an altercation outside the home. He was arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.

On Aug. 11, police responded to a call from an apartment manager on St. Abigail Street about an unwanted man trespassing on the property. The manager told police the man was going to be evicted and wasn’t allowed on the premises. Police located the 34-year-old man at his mother’s home and arrested him on a failure to appear warrant out of Stark County.
