An 83-year-old Canton woman was arrested Aug. 14 on three warrants charging her with theft. She was booked into the Stark County Jail.
An Everhard Road resident told police Aug. 13 that someone pried open a desk drawer at his home and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
A Canton man, 23, was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication Aug. 13 after a patrol officer found him sitting in the wet grass on Whipple Avenue near Munson Street. The officer reported the man had urinated in his pants and smelled heavily of alcohol. The man was issued a court summons and released to a relative.
On Aug. 12, police were called to a community pool on Barrington Place Northwest for an intoxicated woman who was screaming and yelling obscenities. Officers charged the 45-year-old with disorderly conduct after she repeatedly ignored warnings to calm down. She was arrested and taken to jail after being evaluated at a local hospital for suicidal threats.
During a traffic stop on Portage Street Northwest Aug. 12, police arrested a 20-year-old North Canton man on a charge of drug trafficking, a fifth-degree felony. Police reported finding marijuana, a box of plastic bags and a scale in his car—all consistent with the sale of drugs. The man was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police are looking for a man who stole nearly $400 in clothing from a Strip Avenue Northwest store on Aug. 12.
An Uhrichsville woman, 31, was charged Aug. 12 with criminal trespass. Police said she was seen inside a Dressler Road department store where she had been banned because of a previous shoplifting incident.
A Stuhldreher Street man told police Aug. 12 that he applied for a loan online and during the process an attempt was made to defraud him of nearly $1,500. He filed a report with his bank.
A Raleigh Street Northwest man, 59, was charged Aug. 12 with domestic violence. Police said he shoved his girlfriend into a chair and slapped her across the chest several times. He was arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.
A Caldwell woman, 23, was charged with theft Aug. 12 after she allegedly left a Dressler Road department store with $115 worth of merchandise concealed in a large bag. Police said they found her in her car in the parking lot with the stolen items. They also discovered she was driving without a license.
On Aug. 11, a West Avenue man told police he was contacted by authorities in Columbus that someone tried to cash a check using his personal information.
An Akron man, 32, and a Kenmore woman, 32, were charged Aug. 11 with theft. Police said they each had a meal at an Everhard Road restaurant but didn’t have money to pay the bill. They were arrested and booked into the Stark County Jail.
A Navarre woman reported someone broke into her car and stole her purse while she was inside a Belden Village Street fitness center Aug. 11. On the same day, an Independence Circle man reported a book bag and a wallet were taken from his vehicle.
A Portage Street woman told police Aug. 10 that someone entered her apartment while she was taking a nap and stole $40 and two cans of cat food.
On Aug. 9, an Akron woman told police she saw a man by her car while she was shopping at a Whipple Avenue department store. After the man left, she checked her car and found a gym bag and headphones were missing. She described the suspect as white, in his 20s, 5-foot-9, 230 pounds with dark hair and wearing a dark ball cap and a dark short-sleeved shirt. He was driving an older model Oldsmobile, silver in color, with rust on the rear bumper.
A Canton man said he was scammed out of nearly $5,000 after he responded to an employment opportunity online. He told police he was mailed a check and instructed to deposit it into his bank account to start up an office at his home. He complied and afterward when he withdrew the money, his bank notified him the check was fraudulent.
A Canton man, 20, was arrested Aug. 9 on a charge of corrupting another with drugs, a fourth-degree felony. Police said he knowingly supplied marijuana to two juveniles, ages 15 and 16. Officers made the arrest during a traffic stop on Everhard Road.
A Uniontown woman reported someone broke into her car and stole her purse while she was inside a Mega Street movie theater Aug. 9. The purse contained credit cards, toiletries and $125 in gift cards.
A Strausser Street woman told police Aug. 9 that someone used her identity to secure a loan for $1,372.84.
A Traphagen Street resident reported Aug. 9 that someone entered his open garage and stole a pair of sunglasses and a phone charger from a car parked inside. Another resident on the same street reported lottery tickets taken from his vehicle. On the same day, two residents on Amherst Avenue reported a GPS unit, binoculars, a wallet and prescription pills were taken from their vehicles.
A Stuhldreher Street man reported Aug. 8 that someone used his credit card information to make $135 in charges at a gas station in Fairlawn.
