Smoke the Burger Joint will open its new restaurant at 11 a.m. Friday at 4472 Belden Village St. in Jackson Township.

The restaurant closed its previous Jackson location, in a strip mall at Portage Street NW and Frank Avenue NW in Jackson, on Aug. 12.

The restaurant is taking over a corner spot in a plaza that also houses a Sprint store and Leslie's Pool Supplies. Starbucks previously operated in the spot where Smoke will open.

"We love the visibility of the new location, and are excited to introduce Smoke the Burger Joint's creative flavors to a new legion of customers," Brian Bailey, co-founder of Ichor Restaurant Group, said in a news release.

Smoke has four locations in the region, with a fifth due to open in New Philadelphia at the end of this year. In addition to the Jackson Township spot, stores are operating in Massillon, Carrollton and Wooster.

The restaurant has won numerous awards and last weekend won two honors at the National Hamburger Festival in Akron. It was named Most Creative Burger and Festival Favorite.
