• Police arrested an Akron man, 39, at a North Main Street location on two charges of assault knowingly causing harm to the victim. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Stark County Jail.

• A manager at a Pittsburg Avenue business reported a woman used a large purse to conceal multiple items she took from store shelves, then exited the store without paying. An investigation is pending.

• A North Canton woman reported that an unknown suspect entered her vacant vehicle and stole her purse. The purse and cash left inside were reported missing and an investigation is pending.

• An Easton Street NE man, 21, reported that an unknown individual called him and made homophobic threatening comments. The victim told police he received calls from a person or persons who threatened to harm him. An investigation is pending.

• Police arrested a Massillon man, 56, at a North Main Street location on an outstanding warrant from Massillon. The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to a Massillon police officer on a charge of failing to appear at a scheduled court appearance.

• Officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle stopped in traffic on the 600 block of Woodrow Street NW with a male driver unconscious and slumped over the wheel. Emergency personnel arrived and transported the individual to a local hospital. At the hospital, the man was determined to be deceased after suffering a massive heart attack. Next of kin was notified.

• Police arrested a Deacon Drive NW man, 19, during a traffic stop on North Main Street after determining that the suspect had drugs and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in Canton Municipal Court and released at the scene.

• An employee at an East Maple Street business reported that an unknown suspect broke the lock on a door at the property and entered an unoccupied structure. Nothing was reported missing, but the damage to the lock on the door was estimated at $25.

• A Sutherland Circle NW woman, 22, was arrested near the intersection of Applegrove Street and Starcliff Avenue and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs. The suspect was issued a summons to appear in Canton Municipal Court and released at the scene.

• A Mount Pleasant Street man, 58, reported that an unknown suspect damaged his vehicle with what appeared to be a paintball. The victim reported that his property was damaged some time overnight apparently using a paintball gun, causing damages to the passenger door of his pickup truck. An investigation is pending.

• Police arrested a Canton man, 26, at an Applegrove Street NE residence on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court. The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to a Canton police officer.

• A Sunford Avenue SE boy, 17, reported that a known individual cut him off in traffic, exited the vehicle and choked him. The suspect, a Canton man, was taken into custody and charged with reckless operation and assault. 

• Officers responded to a call from an Ashford Circle residence regarding a woman who had attempted suicide. The reportee was the individual’s husband, who directed police to a bedroom where his wife was unconscious and barely breathing. The man reported taking medication from the home and carrying it with him to work in an effort to prevent such an incident. A suicide note was also found. The woman was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

• An employee at a Pittsburg Avenue business reported that an unknown suspect consumed food from store shelves while in the store, then exited the premises without paying for the merchandise. The employee was able to locate the suspect’s license plate using surveillance video and an investigation is pending. 

• A North Canton man was arrested at a Pershing Avenue SE location after being determined to have drug paraphernalia in his possession. The suspect was found unconscious by his parents and had labored breathing. A puncture mark was found on his arm and the parents reported that the individual had a drug problem. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local medical facility for treatment.
