GREEN City Council took the first step in reconstructing the Lichtenwalter schoolhouse in Boettler Park, which was destroyed by arson in August 2016, by passing a resolution authorizing Braun & Steidl Architects to design the reconstruction of the school.
The resolution authorizes the finance committee chairman to appropriate $45,000 from the unappropriated balance of the city’s Parks Capital Projects Fund.
"This gets the ball rolling to reconstruct that historic structure," said City Council President and finance committee chairman, Chris Humphrey.
- Council also accepted a $15,000 grant from Summit County for the purpose of providing support in the legal fight against the Nexus Pipeline.
- Council members a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the village of Lakemore for fire dispatch services.
- Ward 4 Councilman Skip Summerville said dispatch services for Lakemore and Springfield Township are contracted jointly. This resolution creates a separate contract for Lakemore, Summerville said, upon the village’s request.
- Council also passed a resolution supporting Summit County’s declaration of the month of August 2017 as Kids Month in the county.
Paving change order
Council members unanimously approved a resolution authorizing a $5,746 change order to the city’s contract with Chagrin Valley paving for the completed parking lot sealing projects at Fire Stations 1 and 2, bringing the total cost of the project to $42,722.
The resolution, Humphrey said, specifically appropriates the $2,043 amount above the allowed 10 percent overage that was written into the contract.
