Pinta and Nina on Lake Erie

Get a chance for a great history lesson and fun family day as The Pinta and the Nina, replicas of Christopher Columbus’ ships, will be docked at Lorain Port Authority, 319 Black River Lane, from Aug. 4-7. The ships are touring as a sailing museum to educate children and the public about Columbus and early explorers. Walk aboard the ships for a self-guided tour. Admission charges are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $6 for students 5 to 16. Children 4 and under are free. Paddling the Nimisila Reservoir

Paddle a portion of Nimisila Reservoir Aug. 5 and 6 with a certified instructor and a naturalist to learn paddle strokes, safety and see wildlife around the water. Times are 4 to 6 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 6 and 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 6. Minimum age is 13. Ages 13 to 17 must be with an adult participant. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and be able to swim. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and wear clothes that can get wet. Stroll along Summit Lake

Join Summit Metro Parks and the Summit County Historical Society for an historical look at the grandeur of Summit Lake from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8.
