On July 26, deputies stopped a vehicle on State Route 619 for a traffic violation and discovered a passenger, a 33-year-old Akron woman, had a warrant for aggravated possession of drugs. She was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Deputies issued warrants July 23 for a 46-year-old Barberton man accused of menacing and telecommunications harassment. Deputies said he continued to send threatening text messages to a Kingsley Drive woman after being told not to contact her anymore.

A white male, believed to be a juvenile, stuffed a bottle of beer down his pants at a Massillon Road discount store and left without paying, deputies were told July 23.

A 55-year-old Akron man was arrested on several warrants July 23 after allegedly stealing a bicycle and other items from an Arlington Ridge department store. Deputies were called to the store after security employees said the man left with the bike and more than $100 worth of supplies. He was stopped a short time later while riding the bike on South Arlington Road. Deputies discovered he had warrants for robbery, assault and theft. He was charged with theft and criminal damaging for the alleged store theft and taken to the Summit County Jail.

While patrolling Nimisila State Park July 22, deputies found a man and a woman parked in a car after hours. The 29-year-old man of Massillon was found with a warrant for failure to appear on a drug charge. The 24-year-old woman, also of Massillon, was found in possession of marijuana.

On July 21, deputies responded to a security alarm at a Lyndon Drive home. Officers found a man inside the garage, who said he was hired by the homeowner to do some repairs. A computer check revealed he had an arrest warrant out on him for illegal manufacture of drugs. During a pat down, officers found a clear plastic baggie in the man’s pocket containing a substance the man admitted was methamphetamine, a report said. The man was arrested for felony possession of drugs and taken to the Summit County Jail.

A Belleau Woods Circle woman, 24, was charged July 21 with theft. Deputies said she went into the backroom of a Massillon Road restaurant and stole $60 from an employee’s wallet. The incident was captured on surveillance video.

An Akron man, 21, was charged July 21 with aggravated menacing and using a weapon while intoxicated. According to reports, the man was involved in a road rage incident that spilled over into the parking lot of a local gas station. While arguing with the other driver, he reportedly lifted the front of his shirt to show a firearm tucked under his waistband. Officers arrived on the scene while the two men were still yelling at each other. The suspect admitted he had been drinking.

A 2016 Dodge Caravan valued at $18,000 was reported stolen July 20 from the parking lot of an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road business. Reports said the thief went inside the business to obtain the keys to the vehicle. A tablet computer was also reported taken.

A Massillon man, 33, was arrested July 20 on a warrant for possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Deputies discovered the warrant during a traffic stop on South Arlington Road.


A 39-inch TV, an Internet router and a 16-channel switch, total value $1,591, were reported stolen July 24 from a South Arlington Road business. The owner believes the thefts occurred while the building was undergoing renovations when several contract workers were going in and out.

A Long Acre Drive woman, 51, was charged July 23 with domestic violence. Her boyfriend told deputies the woman threw a cigarette lighter at him during an argument and then fled the home. The woman was located and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A Ford pickup truck reported stolen by a Canton man was recovered by Akron police July 23 on Chenoweth Drive.

A Jasmine Avenue man, 29, was arrested and jailed July 22 on a warrant charging him with non-support of dependents. Deputies discovered the warrant during a traffic stop on State Mill Road.

A Linda Street man, 20, was charged July 22 with domestic violence. His mother told deputies the man got up into her face while yelling at her and punched holes in the wall. She signed a motion for a protection order. The man was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail.

A Dorwil Drive resident said he paid a man a $600 deposit to do plumbing at his home, but the man never showed up to do the work. Deputies were investigating.

A Proehl Avenue woman, 59, was booked into the Summit County Jail July 22 on a domestic violence charge. Her husband told deputies he came home and found the woman extremely intoxicated. When he tried to leave to avoid a confrontation, he said the woman closed the garage door behind him. She then blocked him and demanded money from him, he said.

An Akron boy, 16, was charged with theft July 21. Deputies said he had a vehicle towed to a Flynn Avenue location but didn’t have the money to pay for the tow. He was issued a court summons and released.


On July 20, police responded to an unwanted person call at a Melton Avenue home. The homeowner told officers her cousin became intoxicated and wanted him out of the house. Police ran a background check on the 46-year-old man and found he had two misdemeanors warrants out of their department. The man was arrested and taken to the Barberton City Jail.

A Manchester Road woman, 20, was charged July 19 with child endangering. Police said she left her toddler unattended on the front lawn for approximately two hours. She told police she had fallen asleep and was unaware the child had gotten out. The incident was referred to Children’s Services for a follow-up.

A resident on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road reported the rear license plate was stolen from his vehicle July 19. Police entered the plate number into a national database for stolen license plates.

A Center Road woman told police July 19 that her granddaughter’s boyfriend has been harassing her with unwanted phone calls. She said the man changes his phone number periodically using a mobile application. Police were seeking information on the man at the time of the report.

On July 18, a W. Comet Road woman who is six months pregnant told police her boyfriend threw her on a bed and kneed her in the stomach. Police found no visible injuries on the woman’s abdomen but did notice a minor injury on her hand. The boyfriend told police the woman woke him up by slapping him repeatedly and he grabbed her to hold her back. Due to conflicting statements and lack of physical evidence, no charges were filed.

Police issued a warrant July 18 for a local woman charging her with telecommunications harassment. A Fairwood Road resident told police the woman continued to call her after being told to stop.

A W. Comet Road couple told police they came back from their honeymoon on July 16 to find their home and been broken into and some property missing. Police were investigating.


A Fairview Road man, 36, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia July 16 during a traffic stop on Canton Road. Police said they found a glass pipe in a bag of Fritos in the man’s car. He also was found driving with a suspended license.

A Tisen Road man, 43, was charged July 15 with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Police were called to the man’s home after his wife reported he was using alcohol to relieve his pain after running out of his prescription medication. The man was uncooperative with officers and told them he wanted to go to jail. He attempted to hit an officer in order to get arrested and then proceeded to walk down the street while extremely intoxicated.

On July 14, a Linnway Drive woman told police someone broke into her son’s clubhouse and stole two video game systems and 35 games, total value $1,300. A door was forced open to gain entry.

An Onondago Trail woman called police July 14 about a man sitting in a chair in her yard, apparently overdosing. Paramedics administered Narcan to the man and then transported him to a hospital. Police checked the man’s gym bag and reportedly found what they suspect to be fentanyl and several naltrexone pills.

Two residents at a Lessig Avenue home reported July 14 that someone vandalized their vehicles. Damage to one of the vehicles was estimated at $2,300.

On July 13, an Avis Road woman called police after she found drug abuse instruments in her uncle’s bedroom. She had taken her uncle to rehab earlier in the day and was cleaning his room when she found the items, she said. Police collected 12 hypodermic needles and five burnt spoons from the location.

An acoustic guitar, a pair of shoes and a video game system were reported stolen July 13 from a car in the 2000 block of Delaware Avenue. The value of the property was unavailable.

A Killian Road man reported more than $200 in lawn decorations were stolen from his front yard between July 11 and 13. Items included a dog statue, a landscaping chair and three hanging plants.

Police arrested three people at a Utica Avenue home on July 25. Officers went to the home after receiving a tip a man wanted on a felony escape warrant was seen there. They formed a perimeter around the house to prevent the suspect from fleeing. The suspect’s brother, who was found hiding behind a couch, denied knowing the man’s whereabouts. His sister also denied knowing where he was. Officers conducted a search and eventually found the 37-year-old suspect hiding in the basement. He was taken into custody on the warrant and charged with obstruction. The man’s brother, 31, and his sister, 41, were both charged with obstructing justice.

A Pin Oak Drive man, 28, was booked into the Summit County Jail July 22 on a charge of domestic violence. He is accused of grabbing his 60-year-old mother by the neck and choking her and pushing her around the house. The victim had multiple bruises on her neck and sternum, police said.

An employee at a South Arlington Road motel reported 14 prescription pills were stolen from her purse July 21. The purse was in an area where only employees have access, a report said.


Two Barberton women, both aged 27, were arrested on felony drug possession charges July 26 after police reportedly found them in possession of methamphetamine outside a Canton Road shopping plaza. An officer investigating the women for shoplifting at nearby stores found the narcotic in the purse of one of the women and a baggy of it in the trunk of their car, a report said. Several non-prescribed pills were also discovered. One of the women was found with a warrant out of Norton and released to police in that jurisdiction. A third woman, a 23-year-old of Akron, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant, also out of Norton.

On July 22, a Lake Road woman told police a Laverne Lane man posted a threat on her social media page that said he was going to "beat her ass and smash her car" if she didn’t stay away from his house. The woman did not wish to pursue charges but requested the incident be documented for now.

A Elizabeth Avenue woman reported July 22 that while she was visiting her mother in the hospital, someone tried to break into her home through the front door. No entry was gained but damage was done to the doorframe.

An Akron man, 43, of Newell Avenue, was charged July 19 with criminal damaging. A Sanitarium Road woman told police she found someone had let the air out of her car’s tires, and then minutes later saw the man pull the cable from the side of her house and leave on foot.
