GREEN  Food, fun and live music continues at Central Park with the second of three scheduled concerts from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 12 as part of the Live After 5 series, which is organized and developed by the Green All Sports Booster Club (GASBC) with proceeds benefitting the organization.

Live After 5, a three concert series, is being created to bring the community together in the heart of Green to enjoy music, food and family fun. Food vendors including popular food trucks, sodas and adult beverages will be available for purchase.

The Aug. 12 concert will feature two bands. At 5:30 p.m., Naked Monkeys, a four-member band which has been performing on the North Coast and surrounding areas for more than 10 years and a seasonal fan favorite at Kellys Island, will hit the stage. The group performs original and cover pieces ranging from Kenny Chesney and Journey to The Rolling Stones.

Headlining the Live After 5 event at 7:30 p.m. will be Gypsies In The Palace, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band. The Gypsies have capitalized on lead singer Dave Hill’s Buffett look-and-sound alike traits. The band’s island beat down rhythms, tropical percussion and sweet steel drum sounds perform the music of Key West’s favorite son. The band is crowd interactive, and concertgoers will hear all the favorite Jimmy Buffett tunes.

Families with younger children will enjoy the new Kids Korner, featuring carnival games, a duck pond, face painting, hula hoop contest and more.

Admission to the concert is free. Donations are encouraged and welcomed. Patrons may utilize the park’s amphitheater seating. Lawn chairs are also acceptable.

The GASBC's mission is to provide support and funding to all Green High School and Green Middle School student athletes. Proceeds from Life After 5 will continue to support the needs of more than 1,000 high school and middle school athletes who make up 60 teams in 20 different sports.
