Lion King Kids
The Salvation Army of Summit County and Rubber City Theatre will showcase its new summer programming with student-produced performances of Disney’s Lion King Kids on the Salvation Army Citadel’s stage, 190 S. Maple St., Friday and Saturday. The public is welcome to attend one of three special performances: At 6:30 p.m. Friday; a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday; and at 6:30 p.m. July 22. Bring a new or used band instrument to donate to the Salvation Army's youth symphony and get in free. Over the Edge
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Summit, Medina and Stark Counties will be hosting Over the Edge, an event that will send those who donate funds over the rooftop edge of the 13-story Historic Onesto Hotel. The event begins at 4 p.m. Friday at 225 Second St. NW. The first edger steps off at 9 a.m. Come for the adrenaline rush, stay for the family friendly activities. Sign up to go Over the Edge for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Funds raised will go directly into the community through Big Brothers Big Sisters’ unique approach to answering the call for at-risk youth. A night including a free showing of Willy Wonka will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at Goodyear Heights Metro Park. The sled hill will provide amphitheater-style seating in the park, 2077 Newton Street. The night includes a nature-themed craft at 7 p.m. and a food truck. The movie will begin after sunset, at approximately 9 p.m. Bring chairs and blankets, and a picnic to enjoy before the film.
