A 67-year-old Akron man was killed Tuesday in a crash on US 224 in Coventry Township.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, at about 4:20 p.m. the man was driving a Buick Centrury westbound on 224 when his car went off the right side of the road and struck the guardrail actuator. The car then caromed and spun into the left lane and was struck by a tractor trailer. The man was prounounced dead on the scene.

The Coventry Fire Department responded to the scene and the road was closed for three and a half hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the Summit Metro Crash Response team, but speed does not appear to be a factor, according to the Sheriff's Office.
