NORTH CANTON  The North Canton Heritage Society celebrated its 45th year in a big way July 15 with its first inaugural Classic Car Show. The parking lot just outside the museum and offices of the Heritage Society quickly filled with classic automobiles, trucks, vans and one of the early camper styled vehicles.

There were 42 units parked by 12:30 p.m. and more were pulling in to setup for viewing. The car show was part of the yearlong celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Heritage Society.

"The car show is also a fundraiser but its more in celebration of the anniversary of the North Canton Heritage Society," said Executive Director Carmella Cadusale. "There are cars here from Akron, North Canton, Uniontown, Louisville, Youngstown and all over the area. We’re excited about the turnout and we are planning to have it next year and we hope everyone returns."

There were awards given for the top 10 cars and one for Director’s Choice.

The museum was also open for people to tour the recently unveiled a new permanent exhibit titled "Your City, Your History." The exhibit includes a timeline with photos posted around the museum exhibit room. It also includes many never before seen artifacts.

The North Canton Historical Society is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday noon to 4 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every first Saturday of the month. Residents are invited to stop in to view the "Your City, Your History" exhibit during the regular hours. The North Canton Heritage Society is at 185 Ream St. NW.
