The former Stark County District Library branch in Jackson Township's North Park is rubble. Demolition of the building paves way for a new library and amphitheater.

JACKSON TWP.  Heavy equipment turned the former Stark County District Library branch in North Park into rubble this week.

The building has been closed for a year after the library district did a study on remodeling and repairs. Library officials determined it would be more efficient to building a new branch.

The library has moved its Jackson branch to a temporary location at 7186 Fulton Drive NW in the Marketplace at Nobles Pond shopping plaza.

Meanwhile, the township received a $1 million state grant for construction of an amphitheater in North Park. Township officials are developing plans for the facility and considering ways a new library and the amphitheater might share some space. The township and library district plan to work together on a new structure.
