The Goddard School of Green recently held their pre-k graduation ceremony at Firestone Country Club in Akron.

This year’s graduating class was 53 students who will be attending nine different elementary schools this coming fall.

"This year’s class was our largest ever" said Rick Beechy, the school’s owner. "Our first graduating class nine years ago was two boys and we had the ceremony right in the school. This year our ceremony was attended by almost 400 students and their family members. We actually had a difficult time finding a venue large enough to hold everybody. Luckily, one of our parents works at Firestone and was able to help us find a room large enough."

The highlight of the ceremony was the slide show set to music that was put together by the school’s Directors, Miss Carrie and Miss Laura. The show lasted 15 to 20 minutes and had pictures and videos of the graduates from as far back as their first day in the school. The slide show is accompanied by several songs that generate huge smiles from parents and grandparents and also a few tears of joy.

"We’ve watched some of these children grow up for as many as six years now and it will be hard to see them go" said Beechy. "But it also means that we now have openings for 53 new students that we get to watch grow up."
