Paddle the Cuyahoga
Paddle the Cuyahoga River at the Gorge to see towering rock ledges and breathtaking scenery from your kayak from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. June 17. Minimum age is 13; ages 13 to 17 must be with an adult. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and be able to swim. Bring water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and wear clothes that can get wet. Fee includes use of kayak, paddle, life jacket and instruction. The park is at 1160 Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls. Space is limited and reservations are required. Cost is $15 per person. Brew at the Zoo
The Akron Zoo will host its first of three Brew at the Zoo events this year from 6:30-10:30 p.m. June 17 with a 1980s theme. Visitors are encouraged to wear their 1980s attire and DJ Kenny Kidd will be spinning 80s tunes. The entire zoo will be open and all the animals will be on exhibit. There will be 15 vendors on hand, many serving their summer ales and wines. Attendees will receive eight free tastings and a giveaway. Additional tasting cards are available for $10 and full-sized beers and glasses of wine will be available for $4. Guests can purchase VIP tickets and receive early entry at 6 p.m. and have access to an indoor reserved seating area with appetizers, three additional tastings, one full-sized beverage and a special souvenir. Tickets are $27 for Akron Zoo members and $33 for non-members. Designated driver tickets are also available for $16 for an Akron Zoo member and $22 for a non-zoo member. Antique Boat Show
The 42nd annula Portage Lakes Antique & Classic Boat Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24 at the "On Tap at the Harbor" restaurant and docks on Portage Lakes Drive in Coventry. There will be more than 50 beautiful wood and vintage fiberglass boats, both in water and on land. There will also be a "Field of Dreams Sale Lot" with boats for sale on display.
