GREEN  Following the official announcement of her being named the city’s newest service director, Valerie Wax Carr said she is looking forward to the most hands-on aspects of her new position.

“I’m most looking forward to getting to know the residents,” Wax Carr said May 23, following City Council’s approval of Mayor Gerard Neugebauer’s appointment of Carr. “As a service director, a good deal of the job is dealing with neighborhood problems and I enjoy that kind of work.”

Wax Carr brings more than 20 years of experience in city administration and public service to her new role, serving most recently as administrative officer for the City of Norton since 2014. Prior to her position in Norton, Wax Carr served as the director of public service for the city of Cuyahoga Falls.

Wax Carr is a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and English and Cleveland State University with a Masters of Public Administration degree. A native of Tiffin, she resides in Cuyahoga Falls with her husband, Adam Carr, and their two sons.

Wax Carr is expected to start in today and will receive an annual salary of $89,000.

The director of public service in the city of Green manages the divisions of highway, stormwater, and parks and recreation. Neugebauer has served as interim public service director since February, when the position was vacated by former service director Paul Oberdorfer who accepted a position outside Ohio.
