GREEN  Those visiting the city of Green's farmers market this year will be able to shop additional venders and listen to some live music.

Green Communications Coordinator Valerie Wolford said there are 15-plus new vendors this year along with live music from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The market now has a more permanent home with the opening of Central Park.

"It’s nice to have a permanent home for the farmers market with added amenities including the amphitheater for live music, restrooms, the splash pad, playground and walking path to make the farmers market more of an event and destination for the evening than just a stop, shop and go," Wolford said.

Wolford said with the proximity to the parking lot at the Central Administration Building, those who want to get in, get their local produce and other items, and get going, it is easier than ever.

Venders vary from week to week, but market hours are 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday.

"We hope families see Tuesdays as a night to come enjoy live music, shop for local produce and have dinner in the park," Wolford said. "As summer beings and the days get longer, we envision Tuesdays as a night to gather at the park with friends and family."

Parking is available at the Central Administration Building, Central Park lot off of Steese Road and the Green Intermediate School parking lot.

Vendors interested in participating in the market should complete an application form and submit it to Kim Goodhart, market manager, at kgoodhart@cityofgreen.org.
