Metro Parks cycling shops
The Summit Metro Parks is hosting several cycling shops for the Mountain Bike Area Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20. Whether you are a bike owner or not, local adventure seekers can explore several miles of mountain bike trails. The event takes place at the Hampton Hills Mountain Bike Area, 2092 Theiss Road, Akron. A rain date is scheduled for June 3. Event updates will be shared via Twitter (@SMPmountainbike) and on the park district’s seasonal info line: 330-865-8060. The mountain bike area features beginner, moderate and intermediate trails with more than seven miles of trails. Cleaining the waterways
Bring your own canoe or kayak that has watercraft registration to volunteer your time cleaning up our waterways for Boating Week while learning about safety on the water on May 20. The debris collected will be weighed. debris. All participants must have a life jacket and be ages 13 and older. Advance registration is required. Croaking Chorus Frog Hike
Join the Croaking Chorus Frog Hike from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 26 at the Munroe Falls Metro Park/Lake Area, 521 S. River Road., Munroe Falls. Green frogs and bullfrogs begin to emerge in preparation for summer breeding season. Listen for their calls on a hike of Indian Spring Trail. For information, call 330-865-8065.
