HARTVILLE Village council has begun the process of weighing its options with regard to refuse collection.
Council approved a resolution May 2 authorizing Mayor Cynthia Billings to advertise for bids for residential refuse collection. The village’s current garbage collection contract, with Republic Services, is set to expire Aug. 31.
No parking proposal
Council members also heard comments from resident Shirley Hawkins in support of recommendations from the street and drainage committee and the fire department, that roadways in the village less than 25 feet in width be posted for no parking.
A meeting to further discuss the matter was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. May 10 at village hall.
Council passed a resolution rescinding previously passed legislation and declaring three parcels of village-owned land in the Wales Drive Industrial Park to no longer needed for public purpose and allowing the Stark County Community Improvement Corporation to sell the land upon terms and conditions agreeable to the village.
