GREEN  Brier Creek will be known as a home that provides everything for seniors starting in June.

The new Community, which is being constructed on 83-acres on Boettler Road, is a three-phase project to bring a variety of living options to the city of Green.

John Warmus of Warmus Builders, who has been in the construction business for 30 years, said he wanted to bring independent living to the city of Green and make it luxurious, but affordable.

Under construction now is the lodge that will offer 58 apartments for those over the age of 55. The building consists of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.

Brier Creek offerings

All the apartments are a single-story floorplan and have a hard surface for the floors other than carpet in the bedrooms. Kitchens have full-size appliances and are fully equipped with everything to prepare a meal.

Most of the apartments have a patio or balcony. There are several ADA apartments and the facility is pet friendly, with pet fee and limitations on the size of the pet. Each floor has a laundry room, but housekeeping will wash sheets and towels once per week and clean rooms twice per month.

"Brier Creek includes everything," Director of Admissions and Marketing for GreenView Senior Assisted Living Jennifer Ringer said.

One meal per-day is included with the monthly rent from a restaurant which will be the first floor, but meal plans can be created for those who do not wish to cook for the other two meals.

Warmus, who has been working on this project for four years, calls the apartments maintenance free living.

"You can be as lazy as you want to," Warmus said. "You have earned it."

There will be covered parking along with valet parking. Each person living in the apartments will have a key to their apartment and a swipe card to enter the building.

Other features include pre-wired telephone and cable TV, spacious closets, secure storage, designated grilling area and individually climate controlled rooms.

Brier Creek will also offer plenty to do with a fitness center, grab-and-go internet café, lodge pub, scheduled entertainment, culinary classes and wine and beer tastings.

"We are going to have a lot of fun at Brier Creek," Ringer said.

Monthly rates for the studio apartments start at $2,200, one-bedroom apartments $2,600 and two-bedroom apartments $3,500. Those interested in additional meals and services can add those for an added monthly cost.

The lodge is expected to open in June and anyone interested can visit briercreekcommunity.com or call 330-896-0400 to reserve an apartment.

"I am looking forward to opening," Warmus said. "There is nothing like this around."

A market study was done Warmus said and it revealed there is a need for a project like this.

"It is more than just a building, as quality care is what really counts," Warmus said. "It takes a staff to make this place a home."

Future phases

Warmus said in the future there can be a 30-unit addition put on the west side of the building and a 30-unit addition put on the east side of the building.

"We could have close to 120 units," Warmus said. "There is no telling how long that will take."

Phase 1 of the project is under construction with phases two and three coming in the future. Phase 2 is expected to begin this fall and will create 18 duplexes, which will be a total of 36 units. Phase 3 will be the construction of about 100 cluster homes.

The duplexes will be rented and the cluster homes will be sold.

Warmus calls this a 10-year project and a $12 million investment into the city.

"We are very encouraged by the support we have seen," Warmus said.
