The 19th annual Parade of Ponds kicks off July 15th at Hoffman's Garden Center with refreshments and live music featuring "The Ladies," an Akron based, old school R&B group.

The kick-off event, held at Hoffman’s Water X Scapes, is "Under the Lights." It will be held from 8:30-10:30 p.m. and the ponds and water features will be lit by outdoor lighting. The kick off allows guests to walk around and take a look at the different water features.

The Parade of Ponds takes place over two weekends, July 16 and 17 (North of Route 224) and July 23 and 24 (South of Route 224), with the Under the Lights Tour on July 22 for both North and South. It is a self-guided tour that will highlight some of the most beautiful and interesting ponds and water gardens in Summit and surrounding counties.

The Parade of Ponds is a non-profit event that benefits the Akron Children’s Hospital’s Burn Center Unit.

Bill Hoffman, owner of Hoffman's Water X Scapes Garden Center, started the Parade of Ponds with the intent to repay the Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Unit for all the great care they had given him as a child who was suffering from third degree burns.

More than 35 ponds are participating, including 15 in the Under the Lights Tour. From fountains, bubblers, ponds and other water features, there is a little something of everything.
