If the Coventry Comets were planning on being patient when facing Manchester's P.J. Slider, this was not the day to do so.

Slider, a sophomore pitcher for the Panthers, faced a troubling situation in the first inning and cruised the rest of the way as Manchester defeated the Comets 6-2 on Thursday, April 24.

“When I first caught sight of that beast I was completely shocked.  The
catfish looked like he was big enough to swallow one of my kids in one gulp!  I decided that I would probably NOT be swimming in Portage Lakes ever again.”

Among the honorees were The Harbor Inn, Tomaso’s Italian Villa, Sherri Sanchez and Thomas Harnden.

Life on and off the softball field has had similarities for former Manchester soccer player and All-State softball catcher Angela Deger in her first year at West Point Military Academy.  There have been struggles, but looking at the bigger picture has put things into perspective and allowed Deger to focus on the positive.
