Springfield Township, Ohio -
Dana Zigler, a seventh grader at Spring Hill Junior High School in Springfield Township, plants a tree in her yard.
Dana also wrote this poem in honor of Earth Day:
I planted a tree in my yard yesterday
And already I see it grow
Bit by bit it peaks out of the ground and slowly starts to show
It’s amazing how life’s full of
wonderful things and some people
don’t even see
That we celebrate Earth Day
for these lands we have
and these beautiful shining seas
