A public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, May 8, at the Green Community Center, 4224 Massillon Rd. from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., to inform citizens about the Clean Water Plan update for the Northeast Ohio Four County Regional Planning and Development Organization (NEFCO) region (Lake Erie Basin and Ohio River Basin). This meeting is being conducted by NEFCO, the areawide planning agency for Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties. Together, with local public officials throughout the region, NEFCO has completed a limited update of the Clean Water Planc for the NEFCO region. The plan addresses municipal wastewater treatment, nonpoint source pollution management and control, and other water quality issues. NEFCO has been designated by the Ohio governor under provisions of the Clean Water Act to perform water quality planning for the four-county region. The primary purpose of the meeting will be to present amendments to the Clean Water Plan. The plan and admendments can be viewed online at http://uptuscarwatershed.org/NEFCO.htm.
