During the April 22 meeting of Green City Council, many events were announced for residents to mark on the family calendar.

 City of Green Parks and Recreation – Ice Cream and Movie for adults – May 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the John Torok Community Center – free on May 1, but every first Thursday starting June 5th, the after admission will be $1. For adults 55 and older.

4th Annual Art A Palooza is taking taking exhibitor applications. Sponsored by Green Arts Council, Green Chamber of Commerce, and the Green Parks and Recreation. Date is Saturday August 30, 2008. Deadline for applications is June 15. Applications available online at cityofgreen.org.

Green Community Blood Drive at the Green Community Center Friday April 25, 1 – 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 at 8 a.m –1 p.m. Also at FedEx Custom Critical Thursday May 1, 8 a.m – 1 p.m.

Green Kiwanis, Green Key Club, & Green Parks & Recreation Present the Spring Trout Derby at Boettler Park Pond Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to noon. Children up to 12 years old. Please bring your own fishing pole and bait. For more information call 330-244-1836 or 330-896-6621 (rain or shine).

Green’s annual Memorial Day Parade planning is underway. This year’s theme reflects on 11 major conflicts in our country’s history. Such as: The Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, The Civil War, The Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm and War on Terror. They also would like to honor the five branches of the US Armed Forces: Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and U.S Coast Guard. Parade entries will be judged and the award winners announced following the Veterans Memorial Service at the John Torok Community & Service Center. Parade kick-off is 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 26.
