Tickets are now available for THE Event 2008, a benefit to raise money for local cancer patients and their families. THE Event 2008 will take place Saturday, October 4, 2008. The previous sell-out event, held in 2006, was a huge success and helped The Stephen A. Comunale, Jr. Family Cancer Foundation raise money to benefit their extensive outreach program.
This year’s celebration, “Kickin’ It In The Caribbean,” will feature a decadent feast provided by Beau Schmidt, of Beau’s Grille, and non-stop music from bands, all set within a Caribbean Island atmosphere. Hosts Jane and Steve Comunale, are once again extending their hospitality, at their home in Akron, Ohio, to this year’s attendees.
Event co-chairs, Jane Comunale and Ruthie George, have promised to provide another sell-out evening. “Although we set a pretty high standard in 2006, we believe this trip to the islands will be truly unforgettable!”
Tickets are available to the public. For more information, or to become a sponsor for THE Event, please contact Marisa Lamkin at 330-835-5985 or visit the foundation’s website at www.stephencomunale.org.
The Stephen A. Comunale, Jr. Family Cancer Foundation was set up to honor the memory of Stephen Comunale, Jr. and his aunt, Amy Klein, who both waged their own battles against cancer. All proceeds from THE Event 2008 will further the foundation’s mission of providing “gap” funding to individuals and families battling cancer. Rent and mortgage payments, gas cards, grocery cards and utility bills are some examples of the “gap” funding the foundation provides.
