The Canal Fulton Rotary club will be hosting the second annual 5k run and one-mile family walk on Saturday, May 10. 

The 5k run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the one-mile walk will begin at 8:40 a.m.  The race will begin and end at the new Northwest High School located at 8580 Erie Avenue NW.

The cost for pre-registered runners is $19. The cost for runners who register on race day is $22.  The cost for the family walk is $10. 

The race is part of the “Subway Challenge Series.” 

Online registration is available at www.ohiochallengeseries.com. Registration forms can also be picked up at the Northwest High School athletic office.

All pre-registered runners will be guaranteed a t-shirt and race day runners will receive them on a first come, first served basis. 

The top three male and female runners will receive prizes.  Awards will be given in the following age groups:  14 and under, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 +.  All proceeds support the Canal Fulton Rotary’s service projects.
 
Canal Fulton Rotary is a service organization that supports local, national, and international projects. The key component of their local service is to function as the academic booster club for the Northwest Local Schools. Additionally, Canal Fulton Rotary is working to rehabilitate the Lock Keepers Building at Lock 4 Park. Annually they sponsor students who attend Buckeye Boys and Girls State as well as youth exchange students.  Internationally, Rotary has undertaken projects to eliminate polio and to reduce illiteracy. 
 
The revenue generated from the Canal Fulton 5k will used to fund more local, national, and international service projects. Rotary is encouraging businesses and individuals to help sponsor the race. There are four levels of sponsorship. “Gold Sponsors ($500 plus)  will have their company logo on the back of the race day t-shirt as well as a 2’ x 4’ banner displaying their company logo at the start / finish line. Their company name will be recognized as a sponsor on multiple display boards in Canal Fulton. “Silver Sponsors” ($250) will receive their company name on the back of the race day t-shirt and be recognized as a sponsor on the message board at the post race awards ceremony. “Bronze Sponsors” ($100) will also be recognized on the post race message board. “Patron Sponsors” can help support the race with any donations.  Anyone who wishes to sponsor the race or receive more information can contact race director Matt Blind at 330-705-7187.
