Rev. Timothy Temerson will be installed as the 20th settled minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron at a special service on Sunday, March 14 at 4 p.m. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron (UUCA), whose mission is to promote religious freedom and social justice, celebrate diversity, provide a caring community and nurture lifelong spiritual development, called Rev. Tim Temerson as settled Minister on April 26, 2009 after a two-year interim and search period.

Temerson gave his first sermon as UUCA’s settled Minister on Aug. 2, 2009. UUCA is located at 3300 Morewood Rd., across from Summit Mall off Rt. 18.

“I can hardly wait for the big day!” Temerson said. “What we will be doing at this service is celebrating and acknowledging our new shared journey – a journey in which we will work together to build a community and a world of love, acceptance, and peace both within and beyond the walls of the congregation.”

The Installation service begins at 4 p.m. with a formal procession by area UU ministers, local clergy and UUCA’s former minister (1994-2007), Rev. Nancy O. Arnold. UUCA’s Emeritus Minister (1961-1983), Rev. Dr. Gordon McKeeman, is unable to attend but one of Gordon’s extraordinary meditations about ministry will be read in his honor.

All are welcome. Children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this celebration. Childcare for those three years and younger is available upon request. UUCA is handicapped accessible. Listening and viewing assistance devices are available. Directions to the church can be found at www.uuakron.org.

Temerson received his Master’s Degree from MIT and began his ministerial studies at Andover Newton Theological School in 2004. He interned with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (2005-06) and First Parish in Lexington, MA (2006-08) and was ordained as a UU Minister in May 2009.
