Kiarra McKenzie Anderson participated as an Ohio State Finalist in the National American Miss 2009 Miss Ohio Pageant on June 19-20, in the Junior Pre-Teen Division.

Kiarra represented Akron/Springfield Township well, placing Second Runner-up in the Ohio Queens Court as well as placing in the Casual Wear Modeling category.

Most people, when they hear the word "Pageant" instantly think of all those little girls being made up with tons of make-up, but there are wonderful, Natural pageant systems out there that truly do promote lifelong skills and allow absolutely no make-up, no fake hair or fake teeth. This helps the girls to develop an empowering poise and self-confidence, celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders.

National American Miss is a natural pageant and the girls participate in categories including a personal introduction, personal interviews, community service and formalwear. For the personal introduction each girl prepares a short speech about herself and delivers this speech on stage to the judges and an audience of approximately 500 people. The personal interviews are one-on-one with the judges and are conducted just like a job interview, the girls even prepare a resume. In formalwear, the girls are escorted by their fathers on stage.

Kiarra is 9 years old and is well on her way to natural beauty and self confidence. She has gained lifelong skills from participating in Natural Pageants including knowing how to conduct herself in a job interview, how to speak with confidence, and has gained a special poise that will help her in whatever she chooses to do in life.

The self-confidence that Kiarra has  gained can be seen every day in her
life. She recently auditioned and was accepted to Miller South School
for the Visual and Performing Arts in the Vocal Music Program. She is the
current 2008-2009 reigning 5-12 year old Overall Ohio State Queen for My
Royal Crown, another Natural pageant system. She is a great student and
a compassionate person.

Kiarra would like to thank some very special people in our community who
supported and sponsored her in her endeavors: Ms. Lisa, Owner of Tween
Diva Boutique "The Absolute Best Store Ever!"; Ms. Beth, Owner of Vita
II  "A Chic Women's Boutique"; Marion Coblentz of The Hartville MarketPlace;
the Dudonas family; and Kiarra’s family.
