Tank, a 3-year-old English bulldog, was less than impressed to be sitting on Santa’s lap. He posed with Santa and couldn’t wait to get on with the rest of his day. Tank is owned by Karl Heege, of North Canton.

Who says kids get to have all the fun at Christmas?

Americans reportedly spend about $50 billion a year on their pets, $5 billion of which is spent during the holidays.

PetSmart in Jackson Township offers those pampered pets an opportunity to experience what their human companions do at malls all over the country this time of year: a picture with Santa.

Family pets can have their photo taken with the man in red at the annual “Santa Claws” event each weekend in December.

A different organization helps with the photos every weekend, and Dec. 8, the Stark County Humane Society had its elves and volunteers helping pets and their families get their photos taken with St. Nick.

“Five dollars from every photo goes to the Humane Society,” said Teresa Sholtis, a Humane officer and receptionist with the Stark County Humane Society. “We helped at the Massillon PetSmart last weekend, and we did over 70 photos. Last year at this store, we did well over 100 photos.”
