Jackson High School was transformed into a performance hall and art gallery when the Jackson School of Arts (JSA) program held its annual fundraiser, the JSA Arts Extravaganza, on Feb. 23. This year’s event drew more than a thousand visitors and raised $22,000.
Silent and live auctions were offered as fundraising activities. Monies raised from the event will be used for field trips, speakers, artists in residence, dance camp and other events related to the arts.
“It just doesn’t get any better than this,” said Susan Gardner, director of alternative programs at Jackson Local Schools. “So far this year, our patrons alone have raised $15,000, and with the money raised at the event, our budget for the upcoming year looks good. I’m so very grateful to the Jackson Township community, our administration and the JSA teaching team and Arts in Stark for believing in the Jackson School for the Arts and for understanding that art makes smarter kids.”
Monica Myers, Jackson High School principal, said the district was proud to offer the school and highlight talented students.
“We are also fortunate to have the support of the community who contribute their time, energy and donations for our students,” she said.
