LAKE TWP.  The Rev. Gary Halstead, associations associate minister for the Eastern Ohio & Western Reserve Association of the Ohio Conference United Church of Christ, will speak at 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Grace UCC at 13275 Cleveland Ave. NW.

The service is in conjunction with the church's ongoing 175th anniversary celebration, which began in March.

Grace UCC was founded in 1843 by German settlers who emigrated to Uniontown from Pennsylvania in 1818. The original New German Reformed Church was part of the Reformed Church in America. The congregation purchased land on Church Street in 1864 and in 1888 became Grace Reformed Church.

In 1934, the Reformed Church of America merged with the Evangelical Synod of North America, then again in 1957 with Congregational-Christian churches. The new denomination, along with Grace Reformed Church, became part of the United Church of Christ.

The church bought 11 acres on Cleveland Avenue NW in 1961 and added its current sanctuary in 1978. A family center, athletic fields and an outdoor pavilion were added in 2004.
