GREEN  Bishop Nelson J. Perez, head of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, will celebrate a new feast day, Mother of the Church, during an outdoor Mass at 6 p.m. May 21 at Queen of Heaven parish, 1800 Steese Road.

The new feast day was decreed by Pope Francis as a devotion to the Virgin Mary and to "encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety."

It is a fixed celebration to be held on the Monday following Pentecost Sunday.

Perez, who was installed as bishop in 2017, will bless a new Stations of the Cross walkway built by Eagle Scouts Jacob Selby and Bryan White of Troop 334.

A reception with a free dinner will follow the Mass. Reservations are requested. Call 330-896-2345.
