Before I knew it, cold November was here. The start of the holiday season and my son’s birthday were upon me.
I always feel a little stressed out around this time and this year was no different. I hadn’t yet planned my son’s birthday party when the opportunity to visit Cherry Valley Lodge and CoCo Key Indoor Water Resort was presented to me.
“What perfect timing,” I thought to myself. “This would be a great birthday gift plus a relaxing getaway not too far from home!”
So, we packed a few bags and off we went!
Cherry Valley Lodge, located in Newark, Ohio is a family-friendly hotel combined with a 50,000 sq. ft. indoor water park.
We were only on the road for two hours, which is nice when you have two eager pre-teen boys asking, “Are we there yet?” every five minutes.
We arrived on a cold, rainy Saturday, but enjoyed a bright and sunny 84 degrees inside the waterpark where we spent most of the day enjoying waterslides, water cannons and whirlpools.
CoCo Key offers thousands of gallons of fun and fantastic family packages with three giant waterslides, a dump bucket, dip-in theatre, play areas, adventure river and Key Quest Arcade. I was very impressed with the amount of lifeguards that were present throughout the water resort.
They also have a full-service Banyan Leaf Spa where I escaped to enjoy a to-die-for massage.
Cherry Valley Lodge is the only hotel in the national that’s a full sanctioned arboretum and botanical garden. We had a beautiful view from our room’s balcony.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at their own restaurant, Sunflowers, but we opted for a quick pizza delivery.
After we all had finished up a full day of splishing, splashing, dipping and diving, my son Zach had just enough energy left to tell me that he had one heck of a birthday.
And out he went.
