Lake High School presented “Grease” April 16-19 in the Lake Performing Arts Hall. Productions were also done as free dress rehearsals for the public. The elementary schools were given the opportunity to come and watch portions of the play. The students thoroughly enjoyed getting to hear the upbeat music and the dancing. On April 20 at 12:30 the community was invited as a part of the free concert series provided by Lake Local Schools. Guests were greeted by the cast members in costume and were escorted in to be served a variety of refreshments at no cost.

Lake board members and administrative staff were serving the guests as well as helping seat people. Board member Cindy Roberts stated,  “This is our way of saying thanks to you who have supported Lake. Thanks so much.”  Betty Hoskinson attended the community event and added, “I think it is great to offer this to seniors. Our kids are all graduates of Lake High School. We have had three kids from Lake all work with former band director Jack Bair.”

The students had many group dance pieces to learn as well as individual dances. The large dance numbers were impeccably done in unison. The songs performed during the play such as “Freddy My Love” performed by Sarah Rucker and “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” were incredible. Bob Parenti, co-artistic director, stated that these kids are unbelievably talented and highly competent. Many in the crowd agreed with Parenti. The show wowed the audience with the singing, dancing and acting.

Parenti thanked the parents of the cast and crew for their patience, cooperation, driving and spending money. A play is an entire family commitment. These students have been working for months with the help of their families to put on a wonderful play. The directors also thanked the cooperate sponsors: Rentwear Inc., Pines Commercial Properties, Begue Painting Inc. and Lake Choral Boosters.

The directors were Krista Clay and Bob Parenti . Assistant director was Corey Clay and the conductor was Mick Shaull. Choreographer was Melissa Smith and stage manager was Emily Thoenen. The student directors were Lauren Belz and Rachel Rummel.
