Annual cost savings in states with universal motorcycle helmet laws were nearly four times greater (per registered motorcycle) than in states without these comprehensive laws, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Universal helmet laws require motorcycle riders and passengers to wear a helmet every time they ride. Partial helmet laws require only certain riders, such as those under age 21, to wear a helmet.

Health Tip: Sore from your workout?

If you are incredibly sore from a workout you did one or two days prior, your body may need another day or two to recover before doing the workout again. You don't have to take a day off completely, but it's best to try a lower intensity workout like yoga until you aren't so sore.

Children’s Health: Antibiotic prescriptions are down

According to a recent study by the Food and Drug Administration, compared to 2002, drug trends in 2010 showed a decrease in systemic antibiotic prescriptions, which dropped 14 percent, though antibiotics were still the most frequently dispensed medication for pediatric patients. Trends also showed decreases in allergy (-61 percent), pain (-14 percent) and depression (-5 percent) prescriptions. Increases were seen in asthma (14 percent), ADHD (46 percent) and contraceptive (93 percent) prescriptions.
