This was there, we swear!
It’s something of a tradition in advance of a Springsteen concert announcement for various show listings to pop up for a couple of hours here and there, before wafting off into gaseous haze of the Internet, not to be seen again until the official announcement. This could be to goose excitement for an upcoming leg of the tour (as if Springsteen’s loyal fans are in need of goosing) or because people at Ticketmaster keep pushing buttons prematurely. (Keep the nuclear codes away from these people!)
But the show that surfaced yesterday on LiveNation.com really took the cake: A New Year’s Eve show! In Los Angeles! With a ticking countdown clock! It disappeared a few hours later, but it certainly looked official — see the screenshot above to prove that we’re not all crazy.
This can only mean that actual U.S. dates are this close to seeing the light of day — and the possibility of a New Year’s show would seem to indicate that the tour may stretch well beyond the anticipated late-summer stadium dates. Could a new or live album be part of the mix? A Record Store Day release? Stay tuned for news as it breaks. Real news, not the fake kind.
