Time for Thanksgiving

By Norman Miller

Every year, I either write a column or blog about pairing beer with your Thanksgiving meal.

But this year, I’m skipping it. There are plenty of blogs out there right now, and if you really want some advice, you can read some really good suggestions.

My advice: you should drink what you really want, what will make you happy. If you really want an imperial chocolate stout with turkey, it wouldn’t be my choice, but I’m not the one drinking it and eating it.

I will share what I will be bringing to my Thanksgiving meal. My turkey beer will be Mystic Brewery’s new Three Cranes, a saison brewed with cranberries. I usually don’t pair my turkey with a beer I haven’t tried, but everything (I’m not exaggerating) that Mystic does has been excellent, so I decided to take a chance.

Other beers that will be at my Thanksgiving include Boulevard Brewing Company’s Harvest Dance (wheat wine), Gulden Draak 9000 (Belgian quad) and Samuel Adams Merry Mischief (gingerbread stout). They’re all beers I want to drink, so I’ll be bringing them with me.

What will you be enjoying at Thanksgiving?
