Can I get a little coffee with that IPA?

I’m a big fan of a good IPA and I love grabbing an ice coffee before work in the morning, so you’d think the latest Stone Brewing Company collaboration – the DayMan Coffee IPA – would be the perfect mix for me.

And you’d be right. I’ve tried every Stone collaboration, and this has been my  favorite so far. I enjoyed every single sip of the bomber of this new beer.

The DayMan is a collaboration with Two Brothers Brewing Company of Chicago and Aleman, also of Chicago.

Most coffee beers tend to be stouts or porters, but I have had a coffee IPA before (Mikkellrt Koppi Coffee IPA) and it worked and I enjoyed it.

The DayMan is superior in pretty much every way. At 8.7 percent ABV, this is a relatively big beer, but the alcohol is hidden well. When you take the first sniff of this beer from the glass, both the coffee aroma and citrusy hops hit you at the same time.

It tastes fabulous, the lightly roasted coffee and the citrusy flavors really blend together nearly perfectly to make this an extremely pleasant drinking experience.

I was so happy that this was available in a bomber, rather than the 12-ounce bottle most of Stone’s collaborations are bottled in. Even so, I found myself wanting more after I finished it.

After this one, I’m even more excited about an upcoming Stone collaboration – a coconut IPA, the beer that recently won the AHA Rally & Homebrewing Competition. The grand prize is to brew the beer at Stone.

If you read this blog often, you know that I have a slight (OK, huge) obsessesion with coconut. I can’t wait to buy many, many, many of these.
