Earlier this year, Ben Harris died in an accident at the Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth, N.H.

Today, Redhook announced that the Ben Harris Beer, a beer brewed in Harris’ honor, will be available on draught and bottles throughout New England, Pennsylvania and other markets.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Benjamin Harris 2012 Memorial Fund.

“Ben Harris was a longtime member of the Redhook family and a dear friend to all of us,” said Alex Kopf, Redhook senior brewer. “We are looking forward to sharing this special beer with Ben’s family, friends and beer drinkers who live outside of Portsmouth, N.H. Ben Harris Beer was brewed in tribute to Ben, and we hope that the community will join us in honoring his legacy, celebrating his life and remembering Ben with every pint of Ben Harris Beer.”

The Ben Harris Brew is a cream ale. According to Redhook, the beer is a “classic cream ale recipe,” with extra hops because Harris liked “a touch of hops.”

The Ben Harris Beer is 4.7 percent ABV and has 19 IBU. It recently took a second place finish at the 16th Annual Great International Beer & Cider Competition in Rhode Island in the Cream Ale category.
