U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl (above), the Arizona Republican, has never been known as the sharpest knife in the drawer.
When something Kyl said on the Senate floor a few years was shown to blatantly inaccurate, his spokesman said the senator’s remark “was not intended to be a factual statement.”
Kyl has also blamed Barack Obama for the defeat of then-President George W. Bush’s immigration-reform legislation in 2007. In truth, Obama voted in favor of the measure while Kyl joined a Republican filibuster that killed it.
