Christy Gossett, a beloved teacher at Lake Cable Elementary School, passed away on Feb. 9 as a result of a car accident. A butterfly release to celebrate her life was held May 17 at the school.

The students that attended were from the fourth and fifth grades. Each had Gossett as their Science teacher. The Gossett family, as well as many parents and staff, were in attendance. Principal Kathy Clark talked about Gossett and her outstanding service to Lake Cable. After her remarks, 225 butterflies were released at the school’s Nature Center. Every student was given a butterfly in an envelope to release. The saying on the envelope read, “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, she became a butterfly.”
