At the Dec. 17 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, Mayor Dick Norton presented Robert “Bob” Fritesche with a plaque to honor his more than 30 years of service to the city of Green. He has served as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner since 1992. Fritesche’s term on the Planning and Zoning Commission ended Dec. 31.
“Bob’s service to the City is greatly appreciated,” said Norton. “Bob has not only shaped our city through his role on the planning committee, but also through his character.”
Before Green became a city, Fritesche served on the zoning committee for the township. When Green was established as a city, he became one of the first planning and zoning commissioners.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for planning the orderly growth and development of the city. The commission reviews all commercial and industrial site plans, subdivision preliminary plans, signage requests, and conditional use requests and makes recommendations to city council concerning any items which require legislative action including requests for rezoning, amendments to the zoning code, subdivision final plats, and the long-range plan for the city’s growth and development.
The following individuals serve on the current Planning and Zoning Commission Committee: Gerard Neugebauer, John Beese, Rick Jacobson and Bob Garritano.
A new planning and zoning commissioner will be recommended by Mayor Norton to city council at the Jan. 13 council meeting.
The city of Green, founded in 1992, is home to more than 23,000 citizens. Approximately 33.5 square-miles, Green is located in southern Summit County.
