City of Green (Sheriff’s Patrol)
A 45-year-old Wonder Lake Drive man was charged June 7 with cultivation of marijuana. Deputies said they found four small marijuana plants growing in his garden.
On June 8, a Pickle Road man reported someone entered his apartment through an open window and took a crossbow, four arrows and some loose change. On the same day, a set of skis and poles, valued at $500, was reported stolen from an unlocked van on Ramsey Drive.
A 20-year-old Mayfair Road woman was arrested for assault and criminal damaging June 8. Deputies said she attacked a Tallmadge man and broke a window screen at her apartment complex.
Deputies recovered a stolen car found in a Massillon Road parking lot June 7. The 1992 Honda had been reported stolen in Portage County by a Mogadore man.
An East Turkeyfoot Lake Road man, 27, was arrested June 7 on charges of menacing and disorderly conduct by intoxication. The report said the man was standing in the middle of the road, drunk, trying to provoke people to fight with him.
A Heckman Road man reported someone entered his unlocked truck on June 7 and stole a video recorder worth $400.
Deputies arrested a 42-year-old Spade Road man June 7 for domestic violence. He was accused of kicking in the front door of his home while his girlfriend was closing it, and also threatening the woman with bodily harm. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
A Walnut Street woman told deputies that while she was hosting a bonfire at her home June 4 someone got into her purse and stole a bottle of prescription medication.
A 27-year-old Steese Road man was arrested June 5 for domestic violence following an argument with his girlfriend over household chores. The woman said he grabbed her around the neck and slammed her into a bed, and then threatened her with bodily harm.
Coventry Township (Sheriff’s Patrol)
On June 7, an Organ Avenue woman complained that a young man continually raced up and down her street. One time when she yelled at him to slow down, he flipped her the middle finger. An officer located the suspect, an 18-year-old of East Turkeyfoot Lake Road, and charged him with disorderly conduct.
A BBQ grill valued at $545 was reported stolen June 7 from the backyard of a Lakota Avenue home. The next day, a golf bag with clubs valued at $500 was reported taken from a resident’s garage on Regent Avenue.
A 26-year-old Akron woman was charged June 5 with theft for stealing a sandwich and chips from a gas station/convenience store on E. Waterloo Road. She reportedly admitted to the theft, adding that times were tough for her.
An Akron woman attending a school on South Arlington Road said a female classmate threatened to do her bodily harm or damage her vehicle if she didn’t give her $40 and write school papers for her. The classmate denied the allegations. No charges were filed due to lack of witnesses.
Thieves entered four vehicles outside a home on E. Ingleside Road June 3 and took property worth about $1,000. Items included an iPod, a digital camera and a GPS unit. All the vehicles were unlocked.
The owner of a South Main Street bar accused a man of breaking his front door, causing about $550 in damage. The suspect admitted to the damage and said he would pay for repairs. The owner stated he would delay prosecution for awhile to see if the man makes good on his promise.
City of New Franklin
A 32-year-old Akron man was charged with driving under suspension for no insurance June 6. An officer initially pulled him over on Main Street for a stop sign violation.
On June 3, a woman told police she was at her ex-boyfriend’s home on Patricia Drive to pick up her things when the man grabbed her arms and pushed her. The man denied the allegation, saying the woman pushed him. The woman left with some of her property. She was advised to call police for an escort when she goes back to pick up the rest of her things.
A business owner on W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road reported June 1 that someone broke into his shed and stole a lawn mower worth $500.
Police responded to a report of several underage persons consuming alcohol at a private beach area on Pin Oak Point May 31. Three individuals were cited for alcohol-related offenses. A Hyman Avenue woman, 19, and a Fayette Avenue man, 18, were charged with underage drinking. A Barberton man, 23, was charged with selling to underage persons after he admitted to buying beer for the other two.
A 19-year-old Massillon man was charged with possession of drugs on Van Buren Road May 31. During a stop for a traffic violation, the man admitted to having a bag of marijuana on him, police said.
Springfield Township
Four people were charged with theft June 4 for allegedly stealing merchandise from a South Arlington Road discount store. A Coventry Township man, 21, was observed putting about $25 worth of items in his pocket and leaving; he was additionally charged with drug possession after a marijuana cigarette was found on him. A Moore Street girl, 17, reportedly peeled the price tags off several makeup items and then put the items in her purse. A South Main Street girl who while placing paid items in a bag at a self-scanner, failed to scan a $7 shirt. An Akron man, 52, who police said took several items off a shelf and tried returning them at the customer service desk for a refund.
On June 4, an E. Waterloo Road man told police that a young man pointed a pellet gun at his 15-year-old son and shot him in the leg on purpose. The 18-year-old suspect admitted to the shooting but said it was an accident. The man declined to press charges but requested the gun be confiscated until the suspect leaves for his home in southern Ohio.
A Pepper Hill Road girl, 15, and a Grant Street boy, 16, of Akron, were charged with criminal mischief June 4 after they were caught breaking bottles in the road on Mohawk Avenue.
On the same day, a woman said someone busted out the rear window of her car while she was parked outside a home on Kubler Trail. Damage was estimated at $300.
A 33-year-old Canton woman was allegedly caught shoplifting makeup and deodorant from a South Arlington Road discount store June 2. In addition, police said they found a syringe and a glass pipe in her purse. She faces charges of theft and two counts of drug possession.
On June 2, a woman reported someone broke out the rear window on her pickup truck and stole her purse. The incident occurred while the woman was inside a Canton Road furniture store. The purse contained five credit cards, a cell phone and $80.
On the same day, an Akron man told police he accidentally left his wallet at a South Arlington Road restaurant. When he returned, he discovered the wallet had been found, but the money that was inside, $1,142, was missing.
A Mohawk Trail woman told police that someone entered her home through an unlocked bedroom window and stole her purse containing $350 and a bottle of Oxycodone pills.
Lakemore Village
Police were called to investigate a fight on Plaza Court May 30. Two men, a father and son, were found at the scene intoxicated and belligerent, according to police. While officers were talking to the father, the 18-year-old son went into his trailer and jumped out the back window and started running. He was apprehended after a short chase. Officers said he became combative and after being placed in a patrol car, repeatedly banged his head against the window and door. Meanwhile, his father began screaming obscenities at the officers and pulled away when handcuffed. He also threatened to kill a neighbor man while an officer was nearby. Both men were booked into the Summit County Jail on multiple charges.
Two men were taken into custody on active warrants June 1-2. While at a 4th Street home on an unrelated matter, an officer discovered a 22-year-old Akron man with a felony warrant from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. The next day, a 38-year-old man on Plaza Court was found with a warrant from Akron police.
Uniontown Police
Police arrested three men on June 4 after they were caught climbing a cell phone tower on Mogadore Avenue. Charged with criminal trespass were an Edison Street man, 24, a Nimishillen Church Road man, 25, and a Kent Avenue man, 24.
Police were called to investigate a break-in June 3 at a home on Camelia Street. According to the report, someone broke into the front door and gouged a hole in an upstairs wall. Nothing was reported missing and an estimate of the damage was unavailable.
A 16-year-old Shoshone Avenue boy was arrested twice the same day for underage consumption. An officer saw the boy stumbling on Northdale Street and found he was intoxicated. The officer charged the boy and told him to stay home. Later, the boy was seen stumbling outside again. This time he admitted drinking a fifth of whiskey.
Hartville Village
A 64-year-old Canton man was charged with theft June 4 after he allegedly tried to steal a power tool kit from a W. Maple Street hardware store. Employees told police they recognized the man from two previous incidents. Also, police additionally charged the man with driving under suspension after discovering he had no operator’s license due to numerous insurance violations.
On June 7, the owner of an E. Maple Street business reported someone spray painted graffiti on an overhead garage door behind his building.
A Sunnyside Street woman told police on June 4 that an envelope containing three money orders and $175 in cash was stolen from her purse. Police were looking at a possible suspect.
