The Portage Lakes State Park has gone to the dogs, literally. A brand new 2-acre area on the water has been dedicated to the furry friends. The park is entirely fenced in so owners can take their dog off the leash to run free, play fetch, socialize with other canines or even go for a swim in the lake.
Ample picnic tables allow owners to take a break while their active dogs burn a little energy. The dog park is located adjacent to the Bay Side Picnic Area of the main park. Signs leading to the park are clearly visible and makes it easy to find.
The park is open seven days a week from dawn till dusk and there is double gating at the entrance to unleash and leash the dog. There are several rules for the park which will be enforced. All dogs must have current license and vaccines. A full list is posted at the park. For more information, call the park at 330-644-2220.
