Green, Ohio -

Area residents have been receiving telephone calls from individuals representing themselves as court officials.

Residents who are targeted receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a local court employee. The caller usually refers to some type of discrepancy in regards to their jury service. At some point during the conversation the perpetrator attempts to gain or verify their Social Security number, date of birth and/or other personal information to cross reference with their records.

Elinore Marsh Stormer, Administrative Judge for Summit County Common Pleas General Division, stated that the court has been made aware that numerous area residents have received calls and mailings similar to the aforementioned scenarios.
“Under no circumstances will a court employee contact a juror by telephone, mail or any other means to gain confidential information,” said Stormer. “Anyone receiving this type of inquiry should immediately contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.”

If a juror fails to report on their  scheduled date, Summit County Common Please Court will send a letter via the U.S. Postal Service asking the juror to contact the Jury Baliff
Any quetions, contact  the sheriff at 330-643-7751.
