Summit County Engineer, Greg Bachman will be putting his feet to the pedals and invites you to go along.  Throughout the summer he will be inspecting the county roads township by township across Summit County by bicycle.

On July 12 he is inviting anyone that would like to bicycle around Springfield Township to join him. Those wanting to join in need to meet at the Town Hall, 2459 Canfield Road in Springfield Township at 8 a.m.

Anyone wanting to ride along can bike as much or as little as they would like. The ride will last approximately two hours. The bike ride will give residents and others who have an interest to discuss issues and share ideas with Bachman while exercising and enjoying a great close up of the scenery of Summit County.

“Let’s show Greg our “Springfield Pride” and get a large contingent to bike along side Greg as he assess our roads and builds support for our Canton Road Corridor Project,” stated Springfield Trustee Vince Mealy.

Because the group will be traveling on a few roads that have some faster moving traffic they ask that this be limited to adults only. There will be a scheduled rest break and also opportunities to pedal back to the town hall at certain points. Bachman plans to ride at a recreational pace of 15 to 18 mph. Bicycle helmets are required.  No sign-up is needed and there is no cost involved just meet at the Town Hall on July 12.
