Springfield/Lakemore -

Lakemore and Springfield have been talking and Kolomichuk stated that the talks have been productive and that it is nice to see two communities working together, understanding that they are one community with two different names.

“Our problems are their problems. Our issues are their issues. There is a concern for each other’s problems and how we can address them cooperatively. For Mr. Young, Mr. Mealy and Mrs. Davis I appreciate their dialogue,” he said.

Councilperson Marlene Hill said, “If we do not take a look at regionalism we will not be able to compete in a world market and we will go under.” Working with Springfield and Mogadore, the communities will have an advantage.

Village Solicitor Norman Fisher reported he will continue pursuing the start of a mayor’s court. “There has been no verdict on the mosquito abatement issue as of yet,” he stated. “As for the claim made by that the previous mayor made against the present mayor for inappropriate statements at the February council meeting. Our firm has reviewed the tape and quite frankly, we find nothing inappropriate,” said Fisher. He also stated that all the village documents have now been returned.

Chief Ken Ray thanked everyone for sending cards, letters and calls from people in both communities during his recent stay in the hospital. “It meant a lot and I do appreciate it from my heart. It makes you appreciate living in this area.”

Fire Chief C.C. Bittner publicly thanked all the members of the fire department for doing such a great job while he was gone on vacation. “We work hard everyday and we try to be as professional and caring as we can and whether I am here or not here they do a great job.”
